Monday
- Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and all schools, the post office, libraries and most businesses were closed.
Tuesday
- We did a Business Q & A on the Lynbrook Irish Shop.
- Lynbrook Police are investigating a deception burglary that occurred at a Lynbrook home. A man stole more than $1,000 after pretending to be a contractor, police said.
- A Lynbrook High School wrestler was diagnosed with MRSA, and the school announced it was a minor case and that he has returned to the school.
- Governor Cuomo signed a bill to "increase transparency and civic participation in the process of government." The bill will make all records publicly available before meetings.
Wednesday
- We posted the weekly Lynbrook crime report, courtesy of the police department. A diamond ring was reported stolen and a case of identity theft is under investigation.
- Waverly Park School students recently staged a Mock Trial.

Thursday
- 5 Things reminded you of several important events Thursday including the Relay for Life kickoff event and the Chamber of Commerce awards dinner.

- A Lynbrook man was sentenced for his role in a Con Ed bribery scheme. James Coffin, 56, was one of the 14 former Con Ed construction inspectors who were found guilty of charges related to the schemes.
- The East Rockaway Village Pride Party announced that Village Trustee Richard J. Gogarty, Sr. will be the official Village Pride Party candidate seeking election for the unexpired term that will be contested in the March 20, 2012 village election.
Friday
- Several members of the Lynbrook community were recognized at the Project Pride Awards Dinner at the Knights of Columbus.
- East Rockaway Elementary reorganization study results were revealed to a packed crowd. Under the proposed plan, still in the exploratory stage of development, schools would be separated by grade level, not geographic location.
- The weather forecast from the National Weather Service called for 1-3 inches of snow to hit Lynbrook and East Rockaway.
