Engine Company #1 of the Lynbrook Fire Department recently held its annual Testimonial Dinner and Celebration at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place. Members of the Company as well as their families came together to celebrate the past year of service to the community and thank the officers and firefighters for a job well done in keeping the community safe.

The dinner honored Assistant Chief Edward Hynes for 25 years of service, as well as Ex-Captain Thomas Kelly for his dedicated service to the Company and Department.

Town of Hempstead Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino joined neighbors and  residents at this affair.

"Engine Company #1 provides first rate volunteer first responder service to the entire Lynbrook community," Santino said. "The volunteer firemen and women, as well as those in the Chief's line, have continued to do an outstanding job protecting our community and keeping us safe."

"Tonight, I join you in saluting both Assistant Chief Ed Hynes and Ex-Captain Tom Kelly for their unwavering commitment to these ideals over the years," Satino added. "Along with the men and women of the Company, their tireless preparation and practice ensures our community will remain well-protected."

Engine Company No. 1 has a long and storied history for the community. It was organized on Sept. 25, 1900 by a group of Lynbrook residents who wanted to organize a Fire Engine Company and continues as a strong first responders organization to this day.
