Three men have been arrested after they presented forged prescriptions to a CVS pharmacy in Valley Stream and Lynbrook Friday, according to police.
Detectives said that Kwame Lake, 19, of Hempstead, presented a forged prescription at the CVS Pharmacy located at 44 N. Central Ave. in Valley Stream, calling for Promethazine with Codeine. Subsequent to investigation, the vehicle which was operated by the defendant was located with occupants Kason Parker, 21, and Marlon Douglas, 21, both of Hempstead.
The vehicle description had been provided by the Lynbrook Police Department following an investigation of a forged prescription which had been presented to the CVS in Lynbrook, by a male operating the vehicle at the drive thru, police said. Search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 10 blank prescriptions belonging to an unnamed doctor, three forged prescriptions written for Promethazine with Codeine and five bottles containing more than two ounces of Promethazine with Codeine, a narcotic preparation. The doctor’s prescription pad had been reported stolen.
Lake, Parker and Douglas are each being charged with second degree possession of a forged instrument and fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Lake is being charged with an additional count of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.
All three defendants will be arraigned on Saturday, Jan. 28, in First District Court, Hempstead.
