Bio: Steven Nicastro steps in as editor of Levittown Patch after serving as the editor for Lynbrook Patch for 7 months and Syosset Patch for 1 year.

Steve started his career at Patch as a freelancer back in November of 2009, when you could almost count the number of sites on two hands. He first served as the beat writer for several Port Washington high school sports teams. Since then, he has written news and sports for various towns in the area including Syosset, Huntington, Merrick, Bellmore, Garden City and Massapequa.

A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Steve received his BA in Print Journalism with a minor in Sociology. During his time at Quinnipiac, Steve wrote for the Quinnipiac Chronicle for two years, before joining his friends from the Chronicle to help create a new independent newspaper on campus called The Quad News. During his senior year with The Quad News, Steve served as co-sports editor.

At Quinnipiac, Steve also pursued interests in the field of media production, completing various video production courses, internships for MTV Networks and their show "True Life" and HDNews.

In his free time, Steve enjoys working out, playing sports, watching movies and investing and researching in the stock market. Steve is very proud of how far Patch has grown, and is excited to learn more about the town of Levittown and its great residents!

Beliefs:

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Political Beliefs: Independent. As far as political philosophy, my beliefs are mostly libertarian.

I try to vote for whoever I think is most fit for the position. I voted for Obama in '08 and I have been disappointed.

Religion: I was raised Roman Catholic.

Issues in the community: Once I talk to enough people, I will let you know!
